This 1966 Studebaker Daytona Sports Sedan two-door was built in December 1965 and purchased through Fulker Motors of Baltimore, Maryland, and the seller acquired the vehicle from its reported second owner in February 2021. Powered by a General Motors–sourced 283ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in blue with a white vinyl roof covering over black vinyl upholstery. Work performed under current ownership has involved rebuilding the power-steering pump and the AM/FM radio and also replacing the engine and transmission gaskets and seals as well as the vinyl roof, windshield, weatherstripping, bright trim, carpeting, air-conditioner compressor and hoses, alternator, spark plugs, plug wires, points, distributor cap and rotor, and the brake shoes. Now showing 96k miles, this final-year Studebaker is offered at no reserve with a Passenger Car Production Order sheet, service records from current and prior ownership, old photos of the car, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Studebaker built only 2,045 vehicles for the 1966 model year, including 620 V-F8 Daytona Sports Sedans like this example, and manufacturing ceased in March 1966. A revised grille, single headlights, and lowered side moldings were the primary styling revisions for 1966, which also saw the introduction of Studebaker’s Refreshaire system and its ventilation grilles above the taillights. This car was finished from the factory in Richelieu Blue with a white vinyl top. The seller states that the left-rear quarter panel and the hood received replacement sheetmetal to address previously applied poor paint and rust repair. The vinyl roof covering was replaced under current ownership along with the windshield, weatherstripping, U-channels, “cat whiskers,” and the chrome and stainless trim.
The Daytona Sports Sedan had a 109″ wheelbase, matching that of the Avanti coupe that the automaker had stopped building when the company closed its Indiana factory in December 1963 and focused manufacturing efforts on its remaining plant in Canada. White-painted 15″ steel wheels wear covers and are mounted with 205/75 Cooper Trendsetter SE whitewall tires. The power-steering pump is said to have been rebuilt under current ownership, and the brake shoes were replaced.
