1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Series I Coupe (James Young)
Vehicle details
Rolls Silver Shadow coachbuilt 2-door coupe, a rare example produced by James Young Coachbuilders in 1966, being one of only 35 built. This example is one of 25 right-hand drive models ordered and built for Donald L Nicholas of Gatehampton Manor, Goring-on Thames, England, a director of Timothy Whites & Taylors Ltd. Check out the others on Classic Register's Rolls Royce Silver Shadow James Young Coupe Register.
When the new Silver Shadow was introduced in 1965 it was only offered in the 4-door version. James Young would obtain a new 4-door model and convert it to a two door for those who desired a coupe. James Young only made 35 Rolls Royce and 15 Bentley conversions before ceasing production in 1967.
From the original advertisement spotted online, the car is in good condition and is with its original engine and transmission, electric windows and rear A/C that has recently been serviced. The car has not been altered from factory specs, other than a re-paint. The original radio is in place but does not work at this time, a CD player has been added in the cubby box but could easily be removed if desired. The original rear leather upholstery is in good condition but the front seats are worn and split in places. The wheel covers are correct and all the small and large tools are included as are all manuals. The hand brake cable needs to be replaced and it does not work at this time. I have owned this car for 17 years and have had much work done including brake pumps, accumulators, fuel pumps, exhaust system and transmission servo.
