1970 Mercedes W100 600 Pullman/Grosser Short Wheelbase
Vehicle details
Another added to the Mercedes Pullman 600 register. This example was advertised in NZ in 2018, asking a huge $189,000 NZD. Looks to be in very good shape. The seller made the following comments at the time of advertisement:
Purchased new in 1970 by the Chairman of British Steel, then owned by Mr Papanicolou of Titan Shipping from 1978 as his London based car, and finally by myself since 1985, and I've been it's custodian now for the past 33 years ( over half my life ! ).
One of only 273 rhd cars hand built to special customer order from 1963 to 1981, this fabulous car is one of only three 600 swb Limousines on the road in New Zealand, and it is currently located in Wellington.
I had the body stripped to bare metal and fully restored in the 1990's including re-plating the chrome ( it's on brass ) and I am about to have it stripped to the metal again and completely repainted, so you could specify a change in colour if desired, and 600's don't rust, ever, ~ something to do with being built from recycled Panzers so I'm told ...
A $40,000 engine and transmission rebuild has recently been completed, and it has traveled less than 1,000 Km since those comprehensive works were completed.
The extensive burr walnut interior woodwork has also been restored, and the original Mercedes velour upholstery is in good original condition, though you could re-trim it in original style Mercedes perforated leather to present it as new.
Ongoing restoration and parts are available from Mercedes own Oldtimer restoration division in Stuttgart, and other sources via the M-100 owners Club. The plates MB 6OO are included.
