1953 Humber Super Snipe
Vehicle details
This Humber Super Snipe Mark IV Limousine was manufactured and assembled in the UK in 1953. This is unusual for an Australian Humber as they were usually exported to Australia in a completely knocked down form for assembly at the Rootes factory at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne.
It is believed that this particular car was one of six Humber Super Snipe Limousines that were delivered to Brisbane in January 1954 for the Queens Coronation Tour of Australia. Government archives indicate that these cars were on loan from the manufacturer for the duration of the tour.
The car has a couple of rather unique features. One being the glass partition that separates the driving compartment from the passenger compartment. It also has a key lock on the rear right hand door.
