The first of its kind on Classic Register by the look of it - this example was advertised in June 2021 in NZ, asking $69,990. For years I found these a bit too edgy / not streamlined enough, particularly in comparison to much earlier, and subsequent later Maseratis (such asthe 3200GT). But the design of these Ghiblis has grown on me. You can see some amazing attention to detail in modernising what is an 80s design - as this car does derive from the earlier Maserati Bi-Turbo. Anyway, I think these look excellent in hindsight, and prices will be holding up well, as they are particularly rare.

At the time this car was offered, the seller made the following interesting comments:

This particular Ghibli GT was built during the final production run of these handmade cars and is one of 133 right-hand drive examples, most of which had a 4 -speed automatic transmission. In 1995, only 51 Ghibli GTs were produced and only 30 in 1996. Cars with these specifications sold for GBP50, 000 in the UK and over NZ$150, 000. The Ghibli was the last of some 27 iterations of the original Maserati Bi-Turbo, always a well prepared and extremely useable Grand Tourer as per Maserati extraordinary reputation of building magnificent GTs from the very beginning. These cars were built at the end of the De Tomaso era and prior to the mass production Maserati of the Fiat/Ferrari era which makes this example a very exclusive and desirable model and perhaps will be a highly-desire collectors automobile in a near future.
