1978 Leyland Mini 1275 LS

This 1275 LS was on gumtree in February 2020, asking $23,490 - not too bad considering many standard Leyland Minis are around this price (although, they's have to be fully restored to ask it)..

Interestingly, the original 1275 unit has been replaced with a Cooper S 1275 unit, with twin carbs and finished in the proper green and all. The car otherwise looks wonderfully original, with the correct but worn red velour trim, disc brakes and its Hi-Ho silver paint. The Cooper S engine would make it a quicker car than it otherwise would have been, but that engine probably deserves to be back in a Cooper S - an original or close to original engine could be sources for this LS.

The bad:

• The body is not perfect, have some surface rust.
• Small oil leak from timing cover side
• 3rd to 4th gear grinds when you shift fast and high revs…
