1972 Leyland Mini Clubman GT
Vehicle details
One of around 1200 produced, these GTs were the replacement for the Cooper S in Australia, incorporating the Cooper S running gear following the end of the Cooper S brand in 1971. This GT was found offered on Gumtree Australia in August 2016. The seller wasn't sure whether it was a GT, but assuming the stamped chassis number is the same as on the chassis plate, it's the real deal. Sadly, the original engine has been lost from the car, but it includes a 1275cc engine with prefix 12YAT - believed to be from an 1100s.
We have since had confirmation from the buyer that the chassis stamping on the radiator shroud matches the cplinlance plate, and this is indeed a genuine GT. Additional images of the parts that came with it have been provided. Importantly, rare parts like the original RHS tank, brake booster, and twin carbies, are all present. Original seats will need to be sourced.
The car has clearly seen better days rust wise, but its well worth the repair for such a rare and unique car. The car was to be offered with a large amount of spare parts, and included a few of the important pieces such as twin carbies, disc brakes, engine parts etc.
