1959 Ford Prefect 100E Sedan
Vehicle details
This is a partially restored Ford Prefect, Late 50s styling is evident before the hayday for the american cars of the 1960s. This example was for sale in December 2016 and the owner had the following to say about the car:
For sale on behalf of local customer who is reducing his collection of classic vehicles. This fabulous 1959 Ford Prefect 4 door saloon with an amazing mileage of just 30,134 from new. The old girl is incredibly original and probably one of the best un-restored cars in the market place.
The following describes the car accurately and I would welcome viewings to appreciate how charming and unmolested this late 50’s Ford is.
Bodywork.
With exception to some minor touch ups which you would expect after 57 years, the body is pretty much factory original with laser straight bodylines. The underside, sills and usual rust area’s are superb and a real testament to the overall condition and low mileage.
Interior
Again, amazing and totally original with the only issue being the lack of floor covering which from memory should be rubber matting. We will however fit a new carpet set as part of the sale price. The seats still have the plastic covering and all the door cards, headliner and trims are also in superb condition.
Mechanicals
Mechanically this old Ford starts, runs and drives like a new one. Gearbox, brakes and suspension all operate, as they would have back in 1959 and again a real reflection of the ultra low miles.
Summary
If you want an original, untouched and charming late 50’s Ford then this is the car for you. Ok, she’s not a consul, Zodiac or Zephyr; if she were then she would be double the price. You don’t need to spend a penny on this car, just put her in the garage, cruise on a Sunday and show how her off at the events next spring.
