This Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe is one of just over 6000 built for the 1987 year, and looks to be in pristine condition. The 1987 model was made in far higher numbers than the 1986 Aerocoupe, where only 200 examples were produced for NASCAR homologation purposes. Nonetheless, 6000 is not a particularly large production run for these uniquely shaped Monte Carlos, and we're certainly seeing price increases for good examples, with this one here on Hemmings asking (US) $16,999.

The SS Aerocoupe was fitted with Chev's high output 5.0l V8, which produced 180hp (134kw). This was mated to a 4-speed auto transmission - sadly, manual was not an option. The combination will reportedly take you 0 - 100 in a reasonable 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of around 120MPH.

The look of these is typically 80s, and other than the rounded rear screen there's hardly a soft edge on the car. The burgundy paint with red SS and pinstripe decals certainly look the part, as do the white-lettered tyres. It's not the cheapest SS Aerocoupe out there, with other good examples (such as here) a little cheaper at similar mileage and condition. Alternative, you could go for one needing a little more work and save yourself a few thousand dollars, such as this example here on classiccars.com, and you may be able to find examples under $10,000 elsewhere.
