1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I (convertible)

An early E-type under restoration near Albuquerque, New Mexico. The car was found by the current owner in Albuquerque, on the old Route 66. It had been in storage in for many years and was overgrown with tall weeds. It's almost rust free, which is very unusual for any early E-type. There is a small rusted through area beneath the gas tank, where the "horsehair" insulation pad sat under the tank.

The odometer reads 43178 Miles, which is believed to be genuine. It had a '63 CA black license plate fitted (NES427), which is stamped "63" in the upper right corner, and there are no remnants of stickers on the plate. The battery fitted was date stamped "5-64", and is a six cell black battery with green filler caps.  So, it is quite possible that the car hasn't been on the road since around 1966. The local police ran the VIN through the national data base system and found no record of the plate or the license number.

The engine and gearbox are no longer with the car, but hoping to track it down. If anyone has further information on the history of this car, or the whereabouts of the original gearbox/engine (both of which could now be fitted to another car) - please comment below or contact us.
