1999 Subaru Impreza Gen 1 WRX STi Version 6 Sedan
Vehicle details
This is one of only 400 individually numbered Version 6 STIs allocated to Australia. We've written about these cars in our top 10 future classics article a couple of years ago, and prices in the last couple of years appear to have picked up a bit - with this one among several asking $19,000 (AUD). A few years back, the average price was around $16,000. This particular car was advertised on Carsales.com.au in March 2017.
Fitted with the 206kw motor taking you 0 - 100 in just 4.9 seconds, these classic GC shape STIs are the cars for the collector to have, with a wealth of rally history in their resume'. This car is numbered 385 of 400 cars that were allocated to Australia from the Version 6 batch of 2000 sedans (+ 500 wagons). The other batches of cars were allocated to the UK and of course Japan, with no Version 6 models offered in LHD markets.
At the time of sale, the seller made the following comments about the car:
I purchased my beloved STI 3 years ago with the intentions of keeping this classic for many years. It was purchased with a noisy bottom end @ 192000 being a Subaru technician myself this was not an issue. Engine was removed & stripped down with all genuine parts used for rebuild apart from pistons & head gaskets which are Cosworth as genuine rings were unable to be sourced. With a complete engine rebuild performed by a Subaru Master Technician, the maintenance on the car since then has only needed to be minor. Vehicle has only travelled 20000kms in 3 years as is used as a local daily driver with oil changes every 6 months.
Apart from the small dent in the left rear & the steering wheel wear at the top it is in excellent condition inside & out. The car is always garaged & in great condition, and would suit an enthusiast buyer as apart from the turbo back exhaust is all completely original.
