The AMC Eagle is a very interesting and influential car, which brought about the concept of "cross-over" vehicles at a time when 4WD was reserved for serious off-roaders and workhorses. The concept of the cross-over has flourished since, with many of today's brands offering products stemming from AMC's innovative idea from the late 70s.

This example of a 1982 SX/4 hatch is in fairly good condition, with only a few hours remaining on Ebay USA - bids currently sitting under $4,000 (USD). There were around 10,000 of the lift-back models built in 1982, which received a few upgrades including revised auto transmission ratios, low drag disc brakes, and were available standard with the "Select Drive" system - allowing you to switch from 4WD to 2WD to improve fuel efficiency.

The seller states they received the car from a man who owned it for 29 years, and believed it has the original 4.2L straight 6 engine. The car is apparently very complete and has been well preserved, with most items in good working order. The seller has however noted that the 4X4 shifter does not work, and the car is stuck in all-wheel drive, but this doesn't stop it from being driven. The paint is not original, but presents well, and there are a few other items such as minor oil leaks that require some attention.

This is the first Eagle on Classic Register, and we'd love to get more of these unique care on here. If you own one, please sign-up to add your car and tell its story. Follow us on Facebook for more interesting cars found for sale around the world.
