1958 Porsche 356 Type A Convertible
Vehicle details
This is a great example of an extremely rare Porsche 356A Convertible "D" found on Ebay Australia. The Porsche 356A Convertible D was manufactured for the 1959 model-year only. Easily identified by chrome windshield posts that are bigger and higher than the Speedster, and by the two upper corners making an angle with the top of the chrome frame (rather than the rounded corners of the Speedster). The 1959 Porsche 356A Convertible D, which gets its D from body maker Drauz, is one of the most sought-after classic 356 models in the market with fewer than 300 of these cars are in existence today.
This later Varient came with Porsche's 1600cc engine that produced 75HP. The integrated front lights on the sweeping mud guards as well as the sloping back became an iconic styling point for Porsche over the next couple of generations and was a dead give away to the shared DNA with Volswagons of the same era.
This car was imported into Australia in 1989 and has been regestered in South Australia ever since. A bare metal restoration by 356 Werkes was completed in 2010 to take the car back to its former glory. As you can see from the photographs the work that was completed in 2010 is absolutely spotless as the car has remained garaged since the restoration.
The asking price for a part of Porsche automotive history is $300,000 AUD .
