1970 Ford Falcon XW GT
Vehicle details
This 1970 XW GT is currently offered on Ebay Australia with a buy-it-now price of $90,000 (AUD). From the photographs provided, the car appears to be in quite an original state and a quick look at the data plate shows matching number stampings confirming the car is a genuine XW GT, with 351ci motor and manual transmission. It retains the correct Diamond White paint and Dark Saddle trim.
The seller has provided very little details about the condition of specific areas of the car. It's not been confirmed whether the car was re-painted or trimmed at some stage, so both items could be factory original. They have noted that the 351 engine has been stroked to 390ci, with fully worked heads and top-loader gearbox. The paint and trim need a bit of work, and there seems to be some rust at the base of the doors, and naturally a thorough inspection would be recommended.
Recent sales of the XW GT have seen restored examples often asking around the $150,000 mark, so we don't think the asking price for this car is too unreasonable (subject to closer inspection). With only 2,287 GTs built (excluding the HO), opportunities to purchase unrestored examples are thin on the ground these days, so we expect someone will snap this up. There's currently another unrestored example here on Fordmusclecarsales.com.au asking $175,000 (although it appears to be in very good condition with only 66,000 original miles!).
