This GT-S Celica convertible was advertised on Ebay USA in June 2017, with bids only up to $1,950, with 5 hours remaining. The GT-S convertibles were built in conjunction with American Specialty Cars in California, and were originally released in a limited edition of 200 units in 1984. For the 1985 year, a further 4,248 cars were built.

We consider these Celica convertibles particularly special cars because they were Toyota's first factory endorsed convertible (despite being built by an external contractor). Further, they were the very last Celica to be rear wheel drive. With few built, expect these 80s classics to start getting a bit more attention over the next decade.

The seller made the following comments about this particular car at the time of advertisement: All works well, with the 22RE engine rebuilt around 11,000 miles ago by Toy Auto Masters in Englewood. The soft-top works fine, but rear glass is loose and right side front latch handle is broken. The latch works fine, and it comes with a replacement handle. It starts, drives, runs and stops as it should.  All gauges and switches are working, and tires good, body quite straight and rust free.  Small crease in driver's door; paint shows some wear. Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, all there. Radio does not work.
