1995 Mercedes R129 SL600
Vehicle details
We're starting to see some very reasonable prices appear on the R129 600s, and although this example at $15,750 isn't the cheapest on the market, it looks in great condition with only 42,000 miles. See it here on Craigslist in Colorado.
Outside of certain AMG and special edition models, the 600SL is considered one of the most desirable R129s produced. With around 11,000 units built, they're certainly not the lowest production SL, however, certain markets received very few factory delivered cars, and in those markets they are particularly desirable (such as Australia, where only 38 vehicles were delivered).
The 6.0l makes a healthy 290kw / 394hp at 5,200rpm, and features in these cars are impressive for the time (for example; electronic stability control as standard).
We've always found these SLs to be beautiful cars, and we understand why their renowned designer labelled the R129 as "the most perfect car of my career". If the R107 560SL provides any indication of top-spec model collectability and price direction, then the 600SL should be a strong candidate for long term investment.
