1981 Volvo 240 Series 242 GT
Vehicle details
Another 242 GT found for sale in Christchurch, NZ. This one was asking only $4,000 buy it now in November 2017, and has an aftermarket red paint job. The car is also lowered on king springs and has 5 matching alloy wheels.
The seller found a good condition 2.3 turbo (B230et) from a 740 turbo. These engines have a better flowing cylinder head known as 531 and bigger turbo making them produce 181bhp standard but are capable of 300bhp with the correct aftermarket parts. The clutch looks to be in very good condition with very little wear. The engine is bolted in but not wired up and will need an intercooler, oil cooler, exhaust front pipe, power steering pipes from a later model 240 or a power steering bracket from an early 240 but I may have the power steering sorted before the car is sold. A bit of a project for the 242 GT performance enthusiast.
The car was last on the road in 2003 and as such the body will need rust repairs, mainly around the wind screen which is only the outer panel only and no rust in the firewall or floors, small repair to passenger rear quarter panel. Other areas of the body have been sanded back and treated with kill rust.
