A nice low mileage example of the VP HSV Sennator 5000i. This one was advertised on Ebay in April 2018, asking $26,500 buy it now. A bit more affordable than the GTS counterpart, the senators are always a little more refined-looking in the HSV range.

For more examples, take a look at Classic Register's VP HSV Senator Register.

At the time this example was advertised, the seller provided a good amount of detail about the car which we've provided below:

Holden VP HSV Senator 5000i, May '92 build, in the original factory 'Quartz' soft purple - build number 018 of 136. 200kw, 5ltr V8, red cover engine.

For the Senator 5000i, the 5.0-litre V8 engine was modified with flat-top pistons, bigger valves, a revised camshaft, special throttle body, knock sensor, modified induction system, special extractors, increased compression ratio (9.0:1) and a recalibrated engine management system.

The 5000i also runs a recalibrated auto, IRS and the same twin piston brakes as the VN Group A, amongst a number of other top shelf additions which makes the 5000i a special machine.

During 1992 and 1993, when new the 5000i models were $13,000 more than the regular 180kw VP Senator. By HSVs own description: "The 5000i could be said to be the VP equivalent of the VN SV5000".

This particular vehicle looks good despite it wearing the original paint. (Which by the way isn't perfect, it is 25 years old)

It has 140,000km on the clock, and was last believed to be registered in 2013. It has been in storage since.

The vehicle comes with a HSV Certificate of Authenticity.

The vehicle is all numbers matching. It comes with little in the way of history unfortunately, but does have receipts for recent servicing. New parts include windscreen, battery, spark plugs, engine oil and filter, fuel filter, thermostat.

Engine runs well, car drives well consistent with the kms. Air con is cold.

As you can see from the photos this vehicle has the optional HSV leather seats, aswell as the suede covered centre consol, unique to the 5000i.

It also has the optional sunroof fitted.

Attached to the rear windscreen is the original antenna on  for the optional Telstra car phone! (The phone itself is long gone).

The original radio has been replaced with a Sony unit (detachable face, remote control and USB cord)

It still has the original HSV exhaust, which was reported to be stainless steel. Looks to be in good condition.

The air compressor for the self levelling suspension is still there under the rear floor. It is however not connected to the shocks, as it has aftermarket Bilstein shocks.

The car has a few electrical ailments, and may need to see the auto sparky for: the drivers power window, sunroof and front fog lights.

For rego it will also need 2 tyres and possibly the brakes looked at.
