1969 Ford Cortina MKII GT

This example is in amazing condition - an original Cortina GT MK2 which was offered on trademe.co.nz in May 2018.

This neat little GT Cortina has an interesting history which has been researched and documented by its previous owners, and accompanies the sale. 

Originally sold new by Crystal Ford in Yorkshire in the UK in 1969, this Cortina was imported to NZ later in that same year when its owners immigrated here, and it was subsequently first registered here in NZ on the 5th of January 1970. 

The history of owners is recorded throughout the decades, but this example remained in the same family for many years before recently making its way down to the South Island.

Quite a rare car here now, this genuine English GT was ordered in an unusual colour combo for the time, the gorgeous Ermine White of the Lotus cars was ordered for the exterior along with tan or saddle trim inside, which has remained in the car its entire life, and makes a refreshing change from the norm. 

Previously sold by us in a very honest but worn condition, this little GT has recently undergone a decent cosmetic tidy up at the hands of its current owner, with some sympathetic restoration inside to detail things up a bit, and get all the little bits and pieces working again. 

The body appears very solid underneath, with only some minor evidence of previous work having been carried out around some of the bottom sections of the exterior, which is to be expected of one of these at this age, but over all a clean car, that wasn't subjected to the salty UK roads like most, and although far from perfect in the paint, it still presents very well with a reasonable decent shine, and really looks the part. 

Running beautifully after a recent tune up by a proper old school Ford mechanic, and having always driven well, this little GT is a pleasure to offer for sale, being fully sorted, and looking fantastic on arguably the only wheel to have on a Cortina, Lotus style rims with nice new tires rounding the package off nicely.
