We’ve finally spotted another rare DR30 Skyline. Again, it’s in the desirable form of the “RS-X Turbo C” coupe. Very few of these come up for sale in markets outside of Japan, and as a result, we’re betting that these cars will continue to attract collector interest as a rare early alternative to the more populous later models, hence our production of an ID-guide for the RS-X which you can see by clicking here.

The RS-X Turbo C represents the highest spec Skyline produced in the DR30 range, with a turbocharged and intercooled version of the famous FJ20 motor, producing 151kw – particularly impressive for a 2 litre 4 cylinder produced in 1984!

Quite substantial modifications have been made to this particular car, including (among other things):

  • Installation of an R32 gearbox
  • Stinger ECU
  • Forged Pistons
  • Custom stainless steel exhaust
  • HR31 brakes

Perhaps the modifications explain the price, which at $18,000 AUD is certainly higher than we’ve seen others asking, but those have generally been in noticeably worse condition. Despite the modifications, from the outside the vehicle appears reasonably original, with a factory two tone paint colour combination code “060”, being ‘Grey over Blue Black’. The seller also confirms that paint work has been done to the car.

We will watch the advertisement with interest to see how long it sticks around. The only other RS-X online is also located in South Australia, however, has an automatic transmission and has not had any work done / upgrades. That car is asking $12,500 AUD, and has been online for quite some time. If only others would see these cars as the awesome modern classics that we do.
