Spotted this interesting Mercer series 6 Raceabout on Gumtree NZ - a very nice example of these early and very successful vintage race cars. The car was asking $250,000 at the time of the advertisement, and the seller made the following comments: 1923 Mercer Series 6 Raceabout Manufactured in Trenton, New Jersey, USA by Roebling Brothers, Builders of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. This car is built from the remains of the car which was purportedly driven to Victory in the NZ Motor Cup in 1924...

This 1970 MK2 S has been advertised for a while on various sites - and it's one of few that are asking under $40,000 (at the time of sale, this was asking $34,000. It's supposedly an original S, but it'sunclear whether it retains its original engine (likely not).. Not too many up for sale at the moment. Check out the others on the register below.

This is an interesting replica of the 1962 Indianapolis pace car - as provided by Studebaker for that race. The car has apparently been built to the correct specifications, and has had its graphics detailed so as to replicate the original pace car based on photographs from the actual race. A nice piece of history which could be left as is, or the graphics removed if preferred. A real museum piece, this example was offered for sale by Classic Auto Mall - who often has some very interesting...

This is a late Australian Leyland Mini "S" - the "S" meaning the car was one level above the base model, and had a few features such as flares on the mudguards, badging, but little else. This looks like an original survivor example, and is in the final year of Australian mini production (with the exception of the Moke). Found this TJ Ralliart Magna on Graysonline in June 2021 - bids at nearly 10K with just over a day left to run on the auction. It would have been great if they applied the AWD platform to the ralliart cars, but they were just FWD like the standard Magna, but with far better power, and a number of handling upgrades. These are quite rare cars, with only 500 units sold in the Australian market. This particular car is number 410. Check out the others on the register below.

Here's a rare example of the Version 5 WRX STI coupe - from the 1998 year. These were really classics as soon as they were built, and prices to have extent have always reflected that (although there was a time they were available in the mid 20s in Australia. Thsose days are long gone and prices are now much higher. This one, when spotted, had bids at $45,000 and 12 hours of an auction remaining. With just 140,000km on the clock, the car is in immaculate condition.

This neat example of the G6E from 2012 was advertised on carsales.com.au in June 2021, asking $39,900 AUD. I'm a big fan of these facelifted FG models - but also love the subsequent FG-X a little more.. 270kw from the factory, nice dark colour combination on this example. The seller at the timenoted that the car is in great condition - with some serious modifications. This example, finished in lightning strike silver with black leather interior, was advertised for sale in Victoria in June 2021, asking $43,990. Close to its new price. This is the very last year that Ford Australia built the Falcon, and this is one of my favourite models to come out of the Australian marque. Powered by the legendary Barra 6 turbo, the car has 270kw of power, factory standard. The turbo 19 inch wheels look amazing.. Check out the other FG-X Turbos on the register below.

Yet another white example - this one offered on TCV in June 2021.Again, this is an auto, with no sunroof.. Lowesk Ks seen yet at under 30,000. Check out the others on the Be-1 register. Note, this one was asking $11,979 in June 2021.

This whife BE-1 was offered on TCV in June 2021, asking $6,700 USD. As with most examples, they tend to be very low mileage (presumably because they have spent their entire lives doing small trips around cities.. I love the design of these cars - somewhat closer to a retro Mini than mant of the current new Minis. Some 14 inch Minisuperlite wheels are needed to sport up the appearance :). This one has an auto trans, and no sunroof.

Nissan BE-1, bery original car, and only 44,000km. The real mini repalacement! These were based on the Nissan Micra platform with a very cool body design, this is one of Nissan's "Pike" cars of the era. It has a tiny 1l 4-cyliner engine that produces just 38kw, but fuel economy is probably great. This one has an auto transmission (3 speed), but missed out on the optional canvas top. Only 10,000 of these little retro Minis were built. Very rare outside of Japan.
