Honda
Another gem spotted for sale on trademe.co.nz. This one was found advertised in November 2020, asking $18,500 NZD. The EK9 is the most sought after of the Type Rs, being the one that started it all back in the 1990s - and encouraged Honda's naturally aspirated high revving non-turbo endevours that would follow for the next 10 years. This example appears to be in good condition, with a bit of a tidy up needed. It has a few modifications, including an afterarket body kit, and many other small...

Mitsubishi
This Mirage Cyborg was advertised in NZ in late 2020, and is a Japanese import (being the highest specification JDM model in the third gen Mirage range at the time). The Cyborg had a 1.6l turbocharged engine, and producing 107kw - quite impressive for the late 1980s. The car was eventually superceded by the ZR Cyborg.

Ssangyong
Got a few Australian delivered Chairmans on the register now, and this one is another example that's got fairly low Ks. The Ssangyong chairmans I suppose mostly sold to mature drivers, and therefore didnt clock up much mileage, even in Aus.. Havent seen so many in white, and this one looks extremely well kept. The seller was asking $13,500 at the time (late 2020), which i think is far too much. Unfortunately these cars have not held their value and there is a fairly small interest pool despite...

Mitsubishi
This one has been advertised for some time in NZ on Trademe NZ (see it here: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/mitsubishi/listing/2813148321?bof=bPsgSorO). The car was advertised at $31,500 in late 2020, and looks to be in excellent condition. A NZ import, with no alerts on trademe on the 'damaged import check', thi Evo II should make a reasonable investment for someone - although we note that just 10 years ago, these could be picked up for half the current prices.. Check out the other...

Subaru
Another Evo 3 living in New Zealand. This one we spotted on Trademe.co.nz asking $33,000. Interestingly, trademe generated an alert for the car suggesting it was imported with some serious damage or rust. Looks OK now, but suspect this one could have had quite a bit of repair work done. Hard to come by globally, these are now certainly classic raly cars, and did exceptionally well in Group A rallying - the best rallying there is. If you've got an early Evo, sign up and add yours! Check out the...

Mitsubishi
This Galant VR-4 sedan was advertised on Trademe NZ in October 2020, asking $20,000. It's a fairly high price, but realistically this is the predecessor to teh Evo, and a very successful Group A rally car which will surely support hvalues in future as the supply of these rare top spec sedans dries up. Interestingly, the advertisement for this car noted an alert from Trademe, which stated "This vehicle was imported into New Zealand with obvious damage or deterioration. This alert will not appear...

Datsun
These are few and far between. This example was spotted on trademe NZ, asking $35,000 NZD in 2020, and it appears to ba absolutely original and immaculate. The car is supposedly a NZ new delivered car back in 1983, and you can tell from the styling that the design was inspited by American coupes - the strange C-pillar design, which appeared on many of its competitors around that time including the Mazda Cosmo/RX5 and Datsun 200 B coupe. Looks to be a well appointed car inside, with velour cloth...

Ssangyong
Advertised during Victoria's covid lockdown, demand for this glorious chairman was obviously at a low level, with bids failing to bring it over $1,000. Very few details given about the car's roadworthy condition, but the advertisement simply noted that the engine did not turn over. You'd be taking a big risk buying on that basis.. It did however come with a full service history, and lots of Ssangyong chairman images! - advertised on graysonline.com.au originally at the following link: https:/...
